Dive Brief & Gear Info

Before you even get wet, your instructor goes through a thorough equipment overview, showing you how everything connects and functions. The confined water sessions happen in calm, shallow areas where you can stand up if needed while practicing essential skills like mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control. Once you've nailed the basics, we move to slightly deeper water for your open water dives. You'll complete four certification dives, each one building on the skills from the previous session. The dive sites we use are specifically chosen for training - places like Molasses Reef and Pickles Reef offer excellent visibility, moderate depths, and plenty of marine life to keep things interesting while you're focusing on technique.

Marine Life You'll See

Yellowtail snapper cruise around in loose schools, their bright yellow tails flashing as they dart between coral heads. They're curious fish that often approach divers, especially during the warmer months from April through October when they're most active. Don't be surprised if a few follow you around during your entire dive - they seem to enjoy the company. Green moray eels call the reef crevices home, and spotting one never gets old. They look intimidating but are actually pretty mellow, usually just hanging out with their heads poking out of their hiding spots. Your instructor will point them out and explain their behavior, turning what might seem scary into a highlight of your certification experience.
